NOTICE: Short+Sweet 2018 Auckland Film Festival dates have been changed to 20-22nd September, to be held at Academy Cinemas (https://academycinemas.co.nz/)

-----------------------------

10 minutes to make a statement, 10 minutes to connect, 10 minutes with Short+Sweet Festival.

The Short+Sweet Film Festival Auckland will be held over 20-22nd September at Academy Cinemas (https://academycinemas.co.nz/). It’ll be the sixth installment for Film in the ever expanding world of Short+Sweet, currently encompassing live festivals and events in 11 countries and 30 cities, and still quickly growing!

Short+Sweet is the biggest 10 minute performing arts festival in the world with events in 30+ cities across 10 countries. We've been around for 20 years with the first Short+Sweet Theatre Festival in Sydney, Australia in 2002 and to date have presented over 5,500 original new works in Theatre, Music and Dance.

According to Festival Director Greg Dolgopolov the “game changer” for Short+Sweet’s expansion into film was the partnership with Stella Adler Studio in Los Angeles. With so many great stories to draw upon the move to Film was only natural and perfectly coincides with the launch of the first ever Short+Sweet Hollywood season in September last year.

All films submitted into 2018 Auckland season will automatically enter all Short+Sweet Film Festivals worldwide across 2018/19. The winning People’s and Judge’s Choice films from Short+Sweet Auckland will also be screened in Los Angeles at the Short+Sweet Hollywood Film Festival Worldwide Gala Final at the Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. This prestigious invite-only event will feature of winning films from the (growing) number of Short+Sweet Film Festivals from around the world. In 2017, that includes Sydney, Chennai, Mexico City, Manila and Los Angeles. The 2018 season will also include winning films from Short+Sweet Brisbane, Canberra, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Singapore, Indianapolis, New Delhi, Bangalore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kolkata and of course, Auckland.

Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to showcase your creativity to Kiwi audiences and practitioners, and represent New Zealand in Hollywood thanks to our presenting partners: Stella Adler LA (http://www.stellaadler.la/) and American Cinematheque (http://www.americancinematheque.com/)

Stella Adler and Short+Sweet have committed to delivering “a world class festival with an A-List Hollywood finale”. The Stella Adler board includes Hollywood heavyweights such as Mark Ruffallo, Brad Fisher and Benicio del Toro.

The winning films (Judge's and People's Choice - open to New Zealand entries only) will be screened in Los Angeles at the Short+Sweet Hollywood Film Festival at the Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Blvd.

There are also other local prizes to be won and awards including: Best International Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Play to Film Adaptation, Best Actor (F+M)

In keeping with the Short+Sweet tradition, all films must be 10 minutes or under (not including titles), and can be shot and edited on any device.

You must have the permission to use any images, storylines, music etc. in your film.

You must allow us to use your film in approved Short+Sweet festivals (once entered, your film will be eligible for all S+S Festivals around the world for 12 months from the date of submission).
