Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival is an annual 6 day celebration showcasing local, Canadian and world cinema.
Our mission is to change the world by celebrating humanity through the power of multicultural media arts & film.

Called as "Most exciting film festival to come to Toronto in recent history" by Yahoo News, and "One of Toronto's most promising new film fests." by Toronto Star, the films play to the enthusiastic crowds from all walks of life, with anticipated attendance of over 10,000 in 2017.

The 5th Annual festival is promising to be the best one yet, with a variety of film programs, recognition and award ceremonies, parties, concerts, exhibition, industry meetings, guests, and of course more films!

Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival is presented by Scarborough Arts, a local arts services organization connecting arts to the community and community to the arts since 1978.
Scarborough Arts programs, including its annual Scarborough Film Festival is filling an important gap in alternative programming, education and entertainment, and enhancing cultural scene of East York and Scarborough through the art of film.

Official Rules & Regulations
1. ENTRY PROCEDURES
 To submit your film for consideration, you must complete the steps as presented via FilmFreeway submission platform.
 By submitting the form you acknowledge that you read and understood Official Rules & Regulations.
The Official Rules & Regulations guidelines are subject to change without notice.

2. PROGRAMMING, CATEGORIES, AWARDS and SELECTION
 Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival accepts Canadian and International films of all lengths and subject matter.
All submissions to Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival will be fully considered by the Festival programming team.
 All selected feature-length, mid-length and short films, with the exception of those films screening in in specialty and retrospective programs, are eligible for jury prizes, including Audience Choice Award.
 Applicants will be notified by email by late April 2017 if their work has been selected.
 Final programming, categorization and slotting of films will be determined by the Festival programming team. Their decision is final. Successful applicants will receive this information in their official invitation.
 If selected, the entrant grants Scarborough Film Festival the right to utilize publicity materials related to the production (e.g. press kits, posters, stills, etc.) for promotional purposes, to broadcast or screen clips of a maximum of five minutes, and to make dubs of their film for publicity and jury purposes.

3. ELIGIBILITY
All submissions:
 must have been completed after January 1, 2016
 must be submitted by the deadlines
 must be in English, subtitled in English or English versioned (non-English language films may be submitted with an English transcript; however, if selected for Scarborough Film Festival, it must be subtitled or dubbed into English at the applicant’s expense);
 must be exhibited in one of the following screening formats, if selected: DCP, Blu Ray, 35mm, DVD. Full technical specifications will be provided to selected films.
 must be cleared of all copy rights. Scarborough Film Festival will not be responsible for any infringement of copy rights with a full understanding that you have cleared all the rights prior to officially selecting the film work.

4. FESTIVAL SUBMISSION FEES AND DEADLINES
To celebrate our 5th year - All Submission Fees are reduced to only $5!
This reduction is generously supported by our partner, Scarborough Town Center.

Mid- and Feature-Length Films (40min. and over):
 Submitted or postmarked by April 3rd, 2017: $5 CDN (regular year - $55) per submission

Short Films (39min. and under):
 $5 CDN (regulard year - $30) per submission
Short, Mid- and Feature-Length Films by:

* Youth under the age of 18, and students currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution should reach out to the festival team and request a code to suspend the fees to $0.

Submission fees are non-refundable.

Submitted form and fees have to be paid by deadlines specified in order to be qualified. Package with a clear postmark date on it will be accepted.
No screeners or application materials will be returned. Do not send film prints, master tapes or other originals.
5. KEY DATES
 Submissions open January 2nd, 2017.
 Submissions close midnight, April 3rd, 2017
 Should your film be selected to the Scarborough Film Festival, you will be notified in late April, 2017.

6. IF YOUR WORK IS SELECTED
You must provide the following:
a) High resolution, exhibition copy by a designated date.
b) Full digital press kits including film stills and director(s) photo.
c) Filmmakers whose works are selected for the Festival grant the Scarborough Film Festival and related entities the rights to use up to 5 minutes of footage, stills and/or titles, and information from the film for promotional purposes.
d) Filmmakers whose works are selected for the festival agree to provide Director and Producer contact information and grant the Festival the right to provide this information to film industry organizations sponsoring Festival events at its discretion.
7. PAYMENT
 Scarborough Film Festival will not assume responsibility for, nor will it accept shipments incurring expenses for terminal charges, duties, taxes or customs brokerage.
 Please note: Scarborough Film Festival does not accept international shipments via United Parcel Services (UPS) since this courier does not deliver international duty-free shipments to Toronto.
 When sending a film from outside of Canada, please write “No Commercial Value. For Cultural Purposes Only. Valued at 10$”

8. ENTRANT PERMISSIONS
 By participating in the Festival, entrants grant permission to the Scarborough Film Festival to use their names, likenesses, photographs, voices, sounds and/or biographical information and films in connection with the Festival and for any and all advertising, publicity and promotional purposes relating to the Festival without additional compensation, unless prohibited bylaw.
 As a condition of becoming a winner in any of the Scarborough Film Festival categories, each winner will be required to sign a Release Agreement Form granting Scarborough Film Festival the right to use film title, film stills, film synopsis and cast and crew list for any promotional purposes associated with the Scarborough Film Festival and its partners and sponsors.
9.
RELEASE
 By participating in the Scarborough Film Festival, I certify that I/we are the sole owner(s) of the work described above, and that I have obtained all necessary releases and clearances necessary for public screening. By submitting this entry, I agree that the Scarborough Film Festival, its affiliates and assigns may publicly screen the work, as part of the Scarborough Film Festival, and may broadcast or screen clips of a maximum of five minutes, and to make dubs of their film for publicity and jury purposes. I also agree to allow my submission to be included in repeat screenings of Scarborough Film Festival which may occur outside of the original context. I understand that my screening copy may not be returned.

THIRD PARTY RIGHTS & CLEARANCES
 All films and video works must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. If the film contains any material or elements that are not owned by the entrant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to the submission of the film, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit use of the film by the Scarborough Film Festival. Scarborough Film Festival reserves the right, in its sole and unfettered discretion, to verify at any time during the Festival that all necessary clearances relating to any film have been obtained. At any time during the Festival, Scarborough Film Festival reserves the right, in its sole and unfettered discretion, to disqualify and remove any film that potentially or actually infringes any third party's copyright(s).

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
 By submitting into this Festival, entrants hereby release and discharge the Scarborough Film Festival and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents, representatives, independent contractors, officers, employees and directors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, costs, damages and expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to their participation in this Festival, their use or acceptance of any prize, the use by Scarborough Film Festival of any films submitted by entrants and/or any actions or decisions of Scarborough Film Festival in connection with the conduct and administration of this Festival. Entrants hereby waive any right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in connection with any claim against Scarborough Film Festival, any of the Co-Sponsors, or any of their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents, representatives, independent contractors, officers, employees and directors.
 Scarborough Film Festival reserves the rights to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the film screening(s), in whole or in part, at any time without notice. Scarborough Film Festival or its partners, sponsors and affiliates are not liable for any failure to screen films if that failure is due to circumstances beyond their control.
