Year one of the Rose City HERO 2016 (HERO16) will prove to be an exciting festival, showcasing the best in independent short films, with the focus aimed directly at super hero cinema. We're looking for action/adventure films based on heroes, which should prove to be one of the most entertaining film showcases this year. We hope this showcase will introduce Fan Films to a new audience and create a destination for this creative genre.

There clearly is a trend for this specific genre, as Hollywood will put out films surrounding super heroes and comic book movies will rule the box office. We feel it's just as important to celebrate the independent filmmaker, and that is the mission of the HERO16 to give a voice to the vision of indie films creating a space where creatives can share and showcase their work in the coolest city in the NW.

UPDATE: 072916
Rose City HERO 2016 (HERO16) has been informed that the scheduled venue for our showcase will be undergoing repairs due to damages and upgrades. We have been forced to make adjustments, but the show must go on! We are happy to announce that HERO16 will now have our showcase at the incredible
ACADEMY THEATER, September 10th, 2016.

Without a doubt, the evening will be jam packed with incredible movies created by incredible fans. But the fun doesn't there, movie goers will get to vote on their favorite comic book company as we pit Marvel against DC. A drawing will commence during the final night's ceremonies where one lucky winner will win a year's subscription to their favorite magazine. Door prizes include super hero swag as well as reduced entry to all that attend the showcase in full hero garb.

Saturday September 10th will feature amazing independent films, concluding with an awards ceremony honoring the best of the best and will be an event in itself. This will be a "super" cinematic gala to say the least!

My producer went there (unfortunately I was not able to make it this year) and he said it was great and was really impressed, especially for a first time festival I believe. Even if this wasn't the first film festival of it's kind it's still was great. They even handed out award and prizes. Communication at first was satisfactory but significantly improved and stayed on point. I would recommend them to everyone Networking may not all be there yet, but I'm sure if they keep up the effort it'll get there. :)
