QCinema is Fort Worth's source for the best in gay and lesbian film. Founded in 1998 by Shawn Moore and Todd Camp, QCinema’s early origins included occasional community screenings and a film discussion group at Texas Christian University before Moore suggested that it be expanded into a full-fledged, four-day festival in July of 1999. It has since evolved to become the presenter of a year-round series of events including monthly film screenings, live programs, and fundraisers and, of course, our annual film festival, now in its 19th year. Q Cinema is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to provide a voice for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons by presenting films, videos and live programs that not only represent the diversity of our community but educate, enlighten and entertain us all.
What started out as an annual film festival has expanded into year-round events with an inclusive spirit that takes in all facets of the LGBTQ community. The film series, primarily at The Modern Museum of Fort Worth, is known not merely for the films themselves, but also as a gathering place and rallying point for Tarrant County’s gay culture.
Q Cinema has premiered dozens of new films for Texas audiences, presenting the premieres of Trick, But I'm a Cheerleader, G.B.F., Gayby, All Over the Guy, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Notorious C.H.O., Wave Babes, Cowboys and Angels, Adam and Steve, The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green, The Gymnast, Truths & Transformation, Funkytown, Morgan, Crazy Bitches, Kiss Me and Birthday Cake to name a few.

This years QCinema was an excellent experience. The festival was well attended and located in a beautiful section of Fort Worth. Throughout the festival, artistic director Kathryn Omarkhail went above and beyond to assist the filmmakers in any possible. The audience was receptive and welcoming. Upon rechecking to make sure I did not over rate any of the categories, I simply could not justify anything less than the five stars I gave. The only reason for the average mark in Networking is due to the fact that I had to leave the festival shortly after my showing. Great people to work with and a great festival.
