The Pile of Bones Underground Film Festival is back this September!

This one-night only event celebrates the best of independent underground Canadian film. Tired of seeing great films overlooked, the festival was started as a way to showcase bizarre/unique/experimental productions that don't get the exposure they deserve. We are looking for obscure, exceptional films that are offbeat, underappreciated, and uniquely different.

We accept independent Canadian films of any genre which are less than 40 minutes in length.

*** Our 2017 Edition is open to International films ***

I wasn't able to attend the festival, but the people that organized the festival were always communicating with the non-attending filmmakers with personalized e-mails (as opposed to form letters) and keeping us updated. Appreciated the screening fee, their website was super cool and the other films they selected all looked pretty interesting so it felt great to be in good company. This fest is small (one evening long) but its worth looking at and submitting to. Apparently the festival was well attended, which is not something that can be said about all festivals regardless of the size. Thanks for having my film in the festival!

Hey Mike! Thanks for the thoughtful review. "Bed Bugs" was well-crafted and hilarious--there was a great response from the crowd during the screening. Good luck with future fests!

I didn't get to attend this one but the coordinators were super friendly and great at keeping in touch, they even sent a festival pamphlet in the mail which is a cool keepsake to have! They also pay screening fees which was a super nice bonus, but shouldn't be the reason you submit. Being a part of a fest with other great Canadian films helps give it an extra special feel! Neat website too! Thanks for having our film as a part of the fest!

Great festival. In it's first year, but will continue to grow. Interesting selection of work, and well presented. Been a pleasure, and look forward to future editions.
