SUBMISSIONS OPEN ON MARCH 1st 2017!!!

The 3rd Annual Official Latino Short Film Festival will take place October 6-8, 2017 in New York City. The films will be screened at the Teatro LATEA. For more information visit our website www.officiallatino.com

Filmmaker Danny Hastings created the Festival in 2015 in response to the lack of diversity among Academy Award nominees. Our mission is to showcase, nurture, and support the emerging creative American Latino filmmaker in the United States. With the evident lack of American Latino representation in studio films and TV, it's up to us -- the American Latino -- to tell our stories from our perspective. This Festival is created, funded and organized by American Latino filmmakers just like you. We believe that by supporting emerging talent we will begin to see a real representation of us on the BIG SCREEN.

This year's theme is "AMERICAN DIVERSITY" and we're excited about the Festival's new additions aimed at improving the overall experience for filmmakers and attendees.

I can't express my gratitude to Danny and his team for the opportunity to screen my first film to an audience. Danny and his team were super communicative, created AMAZING social media promotional pieces and put on a program that was so inspiring. To be in the company of so many talented Latino artists in one place was amazing. Thanks again and I hope to screen my next project! Much love!

Danny Hasting's and his crew are the real deal... They don't just play lip service to their mission they back it up with action... The festival goes out of it's way to make sure filmmakers are treated right and the amount of work the staff and volunteers put in to make this happen is overwhelming but they pull it off with a style and grace that never feels as though both you and you film aren't a priority...

What a really great event... The fact that the event is Latino centric is even better... It not only champions Latino films and filmmakers it does it on it's own terms... They gave my film NO WAY HOME, a deeply philosophical anti-narrative film the attention it deserved and that it really never got at most other festivals... And on top of that we won an award for Exceptional Artistry for NO WAY HOME, a film that very few people seem to understand despite it's beauty and complexity and it's nice to be recognized by your own people...

The festival really does their best to promote screenings both on social media and in other media... The awards show was fun and entertaining and irreverent in the best way possible... i highly suggest the Official Latino Short Film Festival...

I highly recommend submitting and attending this fantastic film festival. The vibe was great. I'm glad I was able to attend. Great experience. Great films! I liked that they live streamed all the Q & As and the award ceremony, just in case you couldn't attend. Danny Hastings was a great host. I commend him for running an honorable, respectful, fun festival. It's not an easy task! He showed so much love and respect to the filmmakers. So ladies and gentlemen, make your brilliant short. Submit it to this festival. You... my fellow filmmakers can be the next big winner for the grand prize.

Lovin' it!!
