The 2017 Midwest Horror Shorts Film Festival is set to bring together filmmakers, fans and fanatics of all things HORROR for an evening packed full of scary short films from all over the world. The setting is the IAO Gallery on Film Row in beautiful, downtown Oklahoma City, home to a thriving night life.
You will not want to miss this special event with Oklahoma horror film legend, Count Gregore hosting the awards ceremony, fittingly taking place Halloween weekend, October 28th. Count Gregore draws a crowd and your short film, as an official selection, will be seen by true lovers of all things horror.
Count Gregore is considered the longest running, most prolific, horror host in the world. At 88 years young, he may just be an actual vampire. Actor John Ferguson first appeared as television's beloved Horror Host, Count Gregore on May 10, 1958 as Shock Theatre premiered in Oklahoma City. Incarnations of his horror fest tv show included Creature Features, Horror Theatre, Sleepwalker’s Matinee, Thriller and Nightmare Theatre. His career as THE horror host, more than 55 years later, is still going strong.
This event will be heavily promoted and supported in Oklahoma City to provide film makers a truly unique experience to showcase their films. The downtown Farmers Market will be the location of this very special evening of horror shorts. The venue seats 500 horror film fans and It is expected to sell out well in advance .
John, Count Gregore, at 88 years old, hit his limit of 5,000 FB friends long ago and is followed by an additional 1,200 people, most of who are local and will, no doubt, be anxiously awaiting the chance to see him host the festival and it's 20+ top horror shorts. It will be incredible night of fun and exposure, Horror style . Film makers who's short films are accepted to the screening will receive 2 free passes to this epic event. What a way to spend Halloween weekend!!
Films from the Horror, Suspense, Thriller and Fantasy genres will be considered. There isn't a limit on creativity. Just Celebrate and Support the Art of Independent Horror!
Laurels for Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Special Effects Make Up and Best Oklahoma Film will be awarded.
