A celebration of short films illuminating the dark and twisted side of romance, Love Hurts Film Festival takes place in Glasgow, Scotland this Valentine’s Day, February 14th 2017.

We accept submissions from anywhere around the globe. Whatever the genre of your film, if it's about love and its darker facets, we want to watch it.

Following the film screenings, there will be a Q&A with all attending filmmakers, an awards ceremony, and we'll wrap up the night with some networking.

Best Film Award: For the film we believe most embodies the theme of Love Hurts.

Audience Choice Award: For the film chosen by our audience.

All films must be submitted via FilmFreeway.

By submitting to the festival you confirm that you own the rights of the work submitted.

All entries must either be in the English language or be subtitled in the English language.

This film festival is open to any film, of any genre, that has a dark or disturbing nature, and contains themes of love, romance and/or sex.

If a winning filmmaker is unable to collect their award and/or prize in person, these can be shipped at the filmmaker's expense.

If selected, you will be asked to provide a poster, stills and trailer (optional) for your film.

There is no limit on how many entries you may submit, but each film must have a separate entry and entry fee (if applicable).

We accept films from any year. Please feel free to submit your early work, as well as your current work.

Submitted films must not be publicly available online. If your film is released online prior to the festival screening, we reserve the right to disqualify it.

We reserve the right to disqualify any film that does not meet the criteria. No refunds will be provided for any disqualifications.
