Welcome to the Los Angeles International New Wave Film Festival! The Los Angeles New Wave International Film Festival was founded by and for independent filmmakers who seek to recognize the craft of this century’s filmmakers and storytellers from around the globe. As the world gets smaller, and our ability to connect with global cultures becomes easier, we are bringing the world together through the art of film. Providing a young, fresh and exciting perspective to today’s world of cinema, we seek to showcase and honor innovative and exciting voices in the American and international film communities. With nine categories, our goal is to recognize a large and diverse selection of films from all genres and from all over the world. After exploding onto the festival scene in 2010, New Wave International is quickly becoming an important platform for the next wave of provocative and innovative films. Films and scripts are evaluated by a panel of industry professionals, and independent filmmakers.

I am absolutely thrilled to have been selected as the winner of this year's script competition. I am humbled, honored, and grateful to have been LA New Wave's top choice. However, there was nothing more than the announcement. I had emailed the fest asking about laurels that I could use for promotional purposes and never received a response. I'm honored to have had my script chosen, but the expensive submission feel unjustified unless I were to at least receive a certificate and a .PNG file of some laurels.

Every now and then a screenwriter will get lucky and submit to a festival who is looking for original storytelling. Los Angeles New Wave is such a film festival. They are after all, " New Wave" so submit with confidence. Your story will be embraced and read, no matter how creative or "out there" it seems.

I received a congratulatory notice through FF on May 12 that I was a runner-up, and that I would receive an award certificate within a few weeks by mail. It is now almost July and I never heard from them again. They've never replied to any of my emails. The website lists script winners, but no film awards, which makes me wonder if the festival even took place. I wish I could give a positive review but this feels abandoned.
