We are thrilled to announce the birth of the First Annual Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival (JTIFF) premiering June 8th through the 11th, 2017 at the beautiful Mauch Chunk Opera House in historic Jim Thorpe, PA.

The Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival channels the rebellious spirit of the infamous Molly Maguires, welcoming the boldest, most defiant filmmakers to present their work, shatter convention and incite spirited debate. Our credo is “eyes and minds wide open” and we mean it.

We welcome films of every genre and budget, from gritty underground and experimental fare to “well-funded” traditional work.

Note that on Friday and Saturday nights, we will present a special late night "GRINDHOUSE” program. So send us your bloodiest, nastiest and most horrifying films that push the envelope! * We will offer a DEEP DISCOUNT for films that fit this category.*

Couldn't speak more highly of this festival, and to say it is their first you certainly wouldn't know it. Everything was clear and communication was great, the overall themes and tones of the festival looked exciting, the marketing for it was outstanding and the poster was Sick!! Let's not mention how beautiful the town in which it is set looks! I was unfortunately working when the festival was on so couldnt make it, but that is probable one of my biggest regrets to date. Hopefully they'll have me next year because suddenly this festival has made it onto my bucket list. Huge kudos to the organisers for making this whole experience a dream. And thanks for having us, just let me come over next year please!

Oh, how I wish I could have attended this one, but only learned we got in after I'd already made plans to attend another fest the same weekend. That said, communication was great, and I was very impressed by their website -- putting trailers of the films online and so forth. The other films looked great. All very professional. The town looks amazing as did the old vaudeville era theater where they held screenings, and I suspected, even before reading reviews of actual attendees, that this was one of those smaller town fests where the locals came out to support it -- always my favorite kind. Not to mention the town itself looks amazing. I would enter again in a heartbeat and hope to have the chance to experience this one firsthand.

I couldn't make it to the festival because of other obligations. But, they have great communication with me, and I'm thoroughly happy with their response and update. Thank you! Thank you!

Wasn't sure what to expect with a new festival - but the town seemed great - communication with festival organizers was excellent - and they showed that they were excited about our feature and the festival itself. In the end, it was one of the most fun and endearing festival experiences I have ever had. We plan to come back to not only be part of this festival whenever possible, but to just visit the town. Congrats on a excellent start to a festival that will hopefully grow and broaden it's reach.

I was very pleased with the Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival. I wish I could have made it to the actual event, but from what I saw online it looked like a wonderful event. Overall I was impressed with the organization of the film festival - the organizers were easy to communicate with and promoted the event and films to a nice degree.
