FLIXX FEST takes place in 2-3 venues nestled in the scenic and historic Scott Valley among the majesty of the Marble Mountains. We are committed to bringing the best in independent filmmaking to an audience hungry for film, and showcasing films that especially capture some of the region's iconic values: landscape, authenticity, beauty, irreverence, the outdoors, vision, rebellion and independence, in whatever form that takes. We also highly encourage local and regional interest films and animation.

Typically we screen between 45-60 films including shorts, and have gladly welcomed the attendance of several filmmakers with close to 2000 Flixxfesters. This year will be the 8th anniversary of the festival so filmmakers can look forward to another amazing and sold-out weekend in September. Competition awards are typically presented on Saturday at a truly unique Awards dinner, with specialized programming continuing through Sunday.

2023 AWARDS FOR OVERALL WINNERS:
Spirit of Jefferson Award, Special Jury Award, Audience Award Best Feature, Audience Award Best Documentary, Audience Award Best Short, Audience Award Best Documentary Short and Director's Choice.

Craft categories are awarded with a certificate recognizing outstanding achievement in a particular area including performance, music, editing, direction, sound, first-time filmmaker, etc.

One of the best run/organized film festivals that I have ever been to. Festival Organizers and staff were on top of the smallest details and very respectful of the film makers. Screening auditorium was first rate in terms of projection and sound, so the film were presented at their best.
Audiences were great in terms of being interested in seeing the films presented and very knowledgeable.

I was not able to attend this year, but don't miss this fest and its gorgeous scenery. The staff's communication is excellent, and the entry fees for films and scripts are well worth the investment.
