Aloha and welcome to the Honolulu Film Awards!

The Honolulu Film Awards is a crossroads of the world, bridging the gap between East and West, in the spirit of independent cinema and the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. The Honolulu Film Awards recognizes outstanding achievement in filmmaking from around the world. It is our mission to recognize and celebrate the finest independent cinema the world has to offer while helping to advance the careers of promising filmmakers by providing a platform through which their talents can be recognized.

Known as "The Gathering Isle", Oahu is a very special place, surrounded by the sparkling Pacific and spectacular scenery, and full of aloha spirit and splendor. The Honolulu Film Awards is honored to call this incredible island the inspiration from which we merge the magic of film with the magic of the islands.

Each year we honor the best from around the world in several competition categories including Feature Films, Documentaries, Short Films, Foreign Films, Hawaiin Films, Action Sports Films, Music Videos, Experimental Films, Television Pilots, Environmental Films, and more.

Awards are presented to deserving filmmakers and screenwriters in four main competition tiers along with top prizes for Best of Category distinctions and Special Jury Awards. Awards will also be announced publicly and to the press at this time.

The Honolulu Film Awards is an awards competition designed to provide worthy films and filmmakers with recognition for their filmmaking and screenwriting achievements. We have transitioned from a traditional film festival held each year in Waikiki, to an annual online awards competition. Once the Judges have concluded the judging process, winners are announced publicly on our official website and through various promotional channels targeting the film and entertainment industry.

Mahalo Nui Loa and best of luck in the competition!

This was my first time submitting to the Honolulu Film Awards. So far so good, My, "Race Against Time (2015)," Shortfilm was rejected by a couple other festivals located here on the islands. But Honolulu Film Awards not only select my film, but also awarded the work. Feeling very blessed. I have more to submit to you in the future.

Being a Honolulu Film Award winner for 2010, 2013, and now 2016 has been one of the best experiences I've encountered. As a woman over 40 returning to college, and then taking my skills learned, and documenting my true story, my first time entering a film festival was liberating! My next film. I purchased my own equipment, winning again. My third film had more funding increasing my abilities as a writer, producer and director leading to a 2016 win. I look forward to working with the network creative team that has contacted me because of the Honolulu film awards I've received. Thank you HFA.
