Hackney Shorts showcases the work of established and emerging film makers from across the globe who are capturing the rapid changes taking place in the world. The London Borough of Hackney is a microcosm of these changes: a diverse, vibrant community made up of many intersecting and overlapping groups which finds its unique culture under threat from social change, rampant globalisation, environmental crisis and conflicts of interest.
There will be three main categories: documentary, drama, animation, with each receiving a cash prize of £500, as well as access to industry mentoring. Shortlisted entries will be screened in June 2020.
