September 2016 Theme: "ALTERNATE REALITIES"

*FOR FREE ENTRY, VISIT WWW.FLAMFEST.COM and go to the SUBMIT TAB*

Flam Fest is more than a film festival, it's a bi-montly filmmaking challenge designed to inspire all levels of filmmakers to create something unique to them, and then to get involved with our filmmaking community for each screening.

The catch? All short films have to be composed of only THREE SHOTS (and only cutting to each shot once). With this one restriction in place, our filmmakers are encouraged to experiment with form, structure, and storytelling. And with only three shots to tell your story, there's no need for big budgets, huge crews, and expensive equipment. This is your opportunity to get back to your roots and rediscover what you love about filmmaking, and then screen with a community of filmmakers doing the same thing.

All accepted entries will be featured on our website (www.flamfest.com), and selected entires will be screened at our Los Angeles screening.

SUBMISSIONS
*FOR FREE ENTRY, GO TO WWW.FLAMFEST.COM AND CLICK THE SUBMIT TAB*

Flam Fest is a filmmaking challenge created by filmmakers for filmmakers.

We encourage experimentation with media, technique and narrative in the creation of your flams. The themes set each month should be considered a jumping off point for your creative expression.

Failure to send correct files will result in disqualification.

Submissions will open on the first day of the month, and close on the Tuesday before the screening (which is the last weekend of the month).

TITLE AND CREDITS
Your submission needs to have a title on screen. No need for an elaborate title sequence, but you should make sure that the title is included either before or after the film. Credits must be included, but keep them as short as possible. Credits should not exceed 15 seconds.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
In the interests of quality control, each Flam must pass an initial judgement phase before appearing in a screening or on an associated site. This ensures that all posted Flams are engaging, submitted correctly, and suit that month’s theme.

If accepted, your Flam will be added to the screening so long as submissions aren’t full.

We will create up to a 1 hour and 15 minute screening for the month’s submissions, and films will be chosen by a screening committee. We will post on social media if submissions are filling up (@FlamFilms). Once the screening has filled, we will not be able to add any more films, but we will promote the online work (YouTube or Vimeo link) and associated websites.

CONTENT RESTRICTIONS
The only content restrictions we are placing on your Flams are;
◦ No porn. Non-sexual nudity is okay.
◦ No videos that incite hatred or include defamatory or discriminatory content.
◦ No copyright infringement.
◦ Keep it under 12 minutes.

ACCEPTABLE FILE TYPE
These specs are required of all delivered videos in order to ensure quick delivery and ability to create the screener file.

- MOV file with H.264 compression
- 1280x720 resolution (you may matte the video if you'd like a different aspect ratio)
- 23.98 frames per second

Vimeo has a great compression guide here - https://vimeo.com/help/compression

Hopefully we will open up to 1080 down the road, but for the sake of dropbox delivery let's keep the files small to start.
