In an effort to advance our mission to engage people in protecting and improving the water quality and natural systems of the Cannon River watershed, the Cannon River Watershed Partnership seeks film submissions to Downstream Film Festival to take place in Northfield, Minnesota, in February 2018.

We are looking for works with a strong environmental focus that address any number of water quality issues (such as access, food systems and farming practices, environmental justice and other community issues, etc.). Films that place an emphasis on regional or local concerns and stories are preferred, though all submissions are welcome.

We welcome short films (under 30 minutes)—including documentaries, animation, narrative, and experimental—that have the potential to inform, inspire, challenge, and awaken audiences to the environmental challenges of our time. If you are a student filmmaker, we encourage you to submit your work as well.

The Downstream Film Festival will offer a unique opportunity to view and discuss a variety of films within a framework that promotes the sharing of ideas and the exploration of thoughtful action.
