We are the nation's largest celebration of animation and digital art in Mexico. A festival known for its inspiring program of workshops, artists talks, lectures, film screenings and art exhibits offered at no cost. We are recognized for our impressive Competition of International Animated Short Films. We are a unique and amazing experience that every year brings together some of the most influential artists and thousands of minds hungry for knowledge, art, creativity and innovation.

1. This call for applications is only open to people who are eighteen (18) years old or older at the time of registration.

2. The early bird registration fee is $10 USD. The regular deadline fee is $20.

3. The following competition categories have been established:

Narrative Animated Short Film
Experimental Animated Short Film
Animated Music Video
Animated Student Film
Virtual Reality (New)

4. Choose only one category for every short film submitted.

4. The deadline to apply for ALL CATEGORIES is July 31, 2023.

5. The Selection Committee will ONLY take into consideration those short films completed between January 2022 and July 2023.

6. Only works less than 30 minutes in length and created by image-by-image animation technique are eligible for entry.

7. To submit films for consideration to the Film Selection Committee fill out the online entry form and upload the film.

Accepted formats for visual artwork: .mp4 files, Vimeo/YouTube links.

8. The Applicant confirms and guarantees the legal authority required to submit the registration to the Festival and to use all the music, pictures and content of the registration.

9. The Applicants may submit as many films as desired. An entry form for each work must be submitted.

10. Works can include one or more animation techniques. Works can be performed with any animation technique.

11. In case the film results are selected and the content dialogue is not in Spanish, it will have to be subtitled in English.

13. Files that do not meet the minimum requirements for screening will not be accepted.

14. Shipping costs originated from transport of those screening files or other equipment that need to be sent, will be covered by the participants.

15. If selected, participants will be notified via the email provided in this application in order to continue in the competition.

16. Each selected work must be sent to the email provided by the festival organizers in digital format at least in High Resolution.

VIDEO: High Profile H.264, 1920 x 1080, Native aspect ratio.
AUDIO: 16-bit, Stereo, 48000 Hz.

17. The Festival organization will decide the screening dates and times of the films.

18. The Festival organizers reserve the rights to change, cancel or re-schedule the dates, venue, awards & categories without consent or information to participants.

19. The Festival organizers reserve the right not to award any or all of the prizes.

20. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any registration if the work and information submitted do not comply with the requirements of these Rules and Terms

21. The Festival will provide a maximum of 3 accreditations for each short film in competition. In no case will the Festival cover travel expenses for the selected participants and their teams.

22. Applying and participating in the Festival implies acceptance of these Regulations.

23. Only entries with complete submissions and fully paid entry fees will be accepted. Or those who, exceptionally, the organizers of the Festival decide to give them a fee waiver or discount.

24. The Festival’s organizing committee, in accordance with international regulations, will decide any matter arising during the Festival, which is not covered by these Regulations.

25. The Festival Selection Committee will select films for the Official Competition. An international jury formed by animation professionals and other professionals in related fields, will award the different competition categories.
The decisions of the juries are final.

26. The juries will award the following prizes:

Best National Narrative Short Film
Best Experimental Short Film
Best Music Video
Best National Student Film
Best International Student Film
Best VR (Virtual Reality) Experience

FOR VIRTUAL REALITY CATEGORY:

27. Anything other than VR/Virtual Reality will be disqualified. The Work must be formatted to fully run in Virtual Reality players and the experience must be a full 3D/immersive experience.

28. This means that only computer-generated Works are accepted: Fully immersive, interactive three-dimensional replication of an environment and its objects. Environments created with only 360° videos are not accepted.

29. Artistic content is strongly recommended, the Film Selection Committee will prioritize artistic content over video games and other content outside of artistic domains.

30. The Applicant should provide, in the application Overview section, basic user experience information and instructions for understanding its use.

31. If necessary due to the characteristics of the experience (Work), we ask you to provide the documentation that describes any specific logistical, space or equipment requirements for your Work.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY.

The Applicant agrees to:

The Applicant is authorized, on their own behalf and on behalf of all other persons or entities that have property rights or interests, including, without limitation, intellectual property rights, in or relating to the submitted film and/or VR experience (the “Work”), to exhibit this Work at the Festival.

The exhibition of the Work at the Festival shall not infringe any law or any right or consent of any person or entity.

The Work is not subject to any litigation, arbitration, or other adversarial claim or proceeding, nor is the Work the subject of any threat of litigation, arbitration, or other adverse claim or proceeding.

Exhibition of the Work at the Festival will not violate or infringe any copyright, patent, privacy right, publicity right, trademark, service mark or any other personal or property right of any person or entity, and that the Work does not constitute or include a defamation of any person or entity.

All license fees, clearance fees, and other obligations, of any kind, arising from or associated with the exhibition of the Work at or in connection with the Festival have been paid and/or otherwise cleared.

The Festival reserves the right to disqualify, without refund of any or all submission fees previously collected from the Applicant of any payment delinquency or other deficiency of a submission form.
