I am so happy that I was a part of Apex 2016 and have won the award for the "Best Choreography" with my music video "Easy-I'm not a Band". Unfortunatelly Berlin is a bit far, so I couldn't join. Cheers from Berlin and all the very best and good luck to the upcoming ones, Toby. (www.tobywulff.com)

This festival sidesteps all of the pitfalls of other festivals. Usually it's a failed filmmaker who throws a festival (like a different festival I was just in) for themselves, giving each other awards. This is not it. Also, some festivals will only give awards to those who fly there... this is not that either. Most festivals are so political and 'cronie', where a festival director will give awards to their friends and family or backdoor deals are made with 'consultants' who rep films. This is not it.

The thing that crushes me is that I've submitted two films in different years, planned on going, but my schedule hosed me both times... and I still somehow won awards both years. That speaks volumes. Still, you should always try to come to support a festival that supports you, but to still win while you weren't physically there -- that's a festival where you know you're winning because of the work and nothing else.

What's great about this festival is that it truly wants the best films in. No side deals, no odd winners, etc. Everyone who wins here deserves it... that CANNOT be said with 70% of the other indie festivals out there.

Definitely submit here... it's a nominal fee to eliminate the flood of garbage that festivals get if it's "free"... so right away, that's a great thing. Good films don't slip through the cracks with this festival. I highly recommend it. It's a newer festival but I promise you, its heart is in the right place. I can't wait to see what happens in the future with it, I'll always have this on my submissions list.
