The Alaska International Film Awards is an independent film competition that aims to recognize the best and brightest new work in international cinema and highlight Alaska's important role in the international film community.

Awards are presented to independent filmmakers from around the globe who produce original and compelling films and screenplays in several competition categories. The Alaska International Film Awards recognizes innovative and diverse films that connect independent filmmakers' vision and the artistic process to the emerging global arts community.

The Alaska International Film Awards recognizes filmmakers who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity and is responsible for honoring and celebrating new and undiscovered talent worldwide.

Awards will be presented in several categories including three main recognition levels: the Kodiak Award, the Denali Award, and the Northern Lights Emerging Talent Award. Awards will be presented to only to those films that demonstrate a superior level of craftsmanship and quality. In addition, Best of Category awards will be presented in each main competitive category and Special Jury Awards are presented to filmmakers who make significant contributions to social change, environmental awareness, and humanitarian causes.

The Alaska International Film Awards is an awards-based film and screenplay competition. Films will not be screened for the public. It is asked, but not required, that any awards received be mentioned in the promotional materials of the films being awarded.

Rules & Terms

All submissions are handled fairly and equally, regardless of which deadline you choose. Late submissions are screened and judged in the same manner as early submissions. However, we do encourage you to submit as early as possible.

All non-English films are required to have English subtitles.

We cannot provide refunds after your film has been screened and reviewed by our judges.

The award decisions and official results of the judges are final.

Your agree to indemnify and hold us, our employees, officers, agents, shareholders, affiliates, and partners harmless from any and all claims, liability, loss or damage arising out of submitting your project into consideration and or competition in the Alaska International Film Awards.

Entrants retain all rights including intellectual property rights to the work they submit to the Alaska International Film Awards.

Each year, awards are presented to independent filmmakers from around the globe who produce original and compelling films and screenplays in several competition categories. The Alaska International Film Awards recognizes innovative and diverse films that connect independent filmmakers' vision and the artistic process to the emerging global arts community.

By submitting your film into competition in the Alaska International Film Awards you expressly agree that you have read, understand and accept all aforementioned rules and regulations.
