Director Biography - Antonio La Camera

Antonio La Camera is an Italian director, screenwriter, editor and cinematographer. He was born on May 18, 1990 in Castrovillari, Italy, first born of Giovanni La Camera and Teresa Viggiano.

At 18 he left his hometown and moved to Rome, where he studied film at DAMS of University "Roma Tre", where he graduated in 2012 with a vote of 110 cum laude in Film and Art of Vision with a thesis entitled "John Williams - The Musical Storytelling in the Cinema of Steven Spielberg". In 2012 he made "THAT'S NOT SCI-FI" with Linda Del Gamba within the university course of Digital Arts held by Giacomo Verde with which he won the contest "Il Cinema Sopra la Città" and enters the official selections of the "Festival Young Station", "Amarcort Film Festival" and "L'Aquila Film Festival". In 2013 he made "Killer's Sight", a neo-noir short movie shot in Calabria, his native land, selected at "Film Noir Festival" of Vincennes. He attended film school "Sentieri Selvaggi", where he graduated in 2014 with the short movie "The Protagonist" which won the school's Audience Award and was selected at "MOVIE Club Film Festival", at "5th Siliguri International Film Festival" and received a special mention at "Sirius Film Festival". In the same year he directed the short films "Exasperation", "Urban Shakespeare" (Best Movie "Certaine Tendance" at the "I 400 Corti Film Fest", official selection at the "Shakespeare Fest", "Notorious Film Festival", "Fabriano Film Fest" "Boat International Festival of Culture", "Filming Shakespeare Short Film Competition") and "Oil and Water" (Best Production Values for the Student Media Show Audience Award 2015 of the American University of Rome, official selection at "MIZZICAFilm Festival"). In 2015 returns in Calabria to shoot the short film "Flesh and Dust".

Alongside the activities of director, he has worked as an editor and assistant director for the short film "Giulia's Room", "General Tale of Ordinary Solitude" (both by Fabrizio Condino), "City of the Province" (Andrea Crisanti), "A Term", "Strait and Indispensable"(both by Sara Moccia), "In Art Ermes" (Isabella Rossi), "Gangster Movie" (Toni Trupia).

In 2015 he work as camera operator and editor in the documentary "Grand Tour", realized by Toni Trupia and Antonello Caporale and as assistant director in the theatrical comedy "Amaranto. Unexpected... surprising love!" written and directed by Ilenia Costanza.

Director Statement

"Exasperation" was born as an exercise within the directing course of the film school "Sentieri Selvaggi" (Rome) held by Toni Trupia: each student was required to adapt one of the stories of Max Aub provided by the teacher in a short film to be shot in about two hours.
