Experiencing Interruptions?

The endless myth of Icarus

At the compensation meeting for the fire victims' families, the writer Wang Sisi encounters Dr. Luo Xufeng, who appears to share her same pain. Through Dr. Luo's words, Wang Sisi learns about a boy named Luo Ran, who was also claimed by the flames, reminiscent of her own mother. As Wang Sisi recounts the story of Icarus, Dr. Luo Xufeng becomes entangled in the conflict between science and the supernatural. In their imagination, their timelines begin to intertwine, seeking reconciliation between life, death, and all else in this magical world...

Director Statement

Life and death are eternal themes. How can one engage in a dialogue across time and space with those regretful pasts? And how should one confront their own life? These are the questions I often pondered after my grandmother's passing, and they have become the conceptual foundation of my storytelling. This film revolves around the theme of life and death in different families, combining elements of artistry and fantasy. It narrates from both realistic and surreal perspectives, using multiple metaphors to depict the interaction between the living and the deceased through poetry, ultimately reaching reconciliation in different worlds.
