El Puente (The Bridge)
Manolin 'El Medico De La Salsa', was the biggest musician of the Cuban salsa scene until he began using music to express his political views. His song 'El Puente' about a dream of creating a bridge between Miami and Havana, became a national anthem that enraged the government. He was exiled and hasn't been able to return for 15 years. Now, he's at the forefront of a new law that would allow him to return to Cuba, be reunited with his family, and perform.

Emmy recently graduated from Chapman University in Orange, CA. She studied documentary film and psychology. She is drawn to documentary film because it gives her the chance to be a lifelong learner, meet interesting people, and tell stories that could create a real impact.
El Puente was my senior thesis project at Chapman University. I got to spend the month of January in Miami and Cuba making this film (all the while speaking very little Spanish!) It was an amazing experience and I'm so excited to be sharing it with you!
