"The Forest´s Legacy"

"The Legacy of the Forest" is a poetic appeal to the lossing forests process in Cantabria, caused by the indiscriminate felling of beech forests and the unstoppable advance of fires set to generate grass.

The poet Carmen Stella de Vallejo was born in Argentina but suffered most of her life in the Cabuérniga Valley, in Cantabria. He participated in "Con tu piedra" a poetic anthology against the exploitation of the environment and war, and the book "Old Myths of Cantabria" stands out from his work, an original recreation - with local speech and the meter of popular ballads or trovas - from the work of Manuel Llano.

Her husband, the doctor from the Cabúerniga Valley, Domingo Gómez de Dios, naturalist and partner of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, illustrated the original script with the plant and animal motifs that can be seen during the credits of the audiovisual report.

The concept of this report was to give an image to one of its main texts called "The Legacy of the Forest". This report was born with the idea of being a collaborative document that had the help of volunteer videographers, as well as musicians and sound technicians who managed to extract the original voice of the now-deceased poetess from an old cassette tape in which she had recorded herself with poor quality background music. Thanks to laboratory work, it was possible to extract the original voice with the typical declamation of the theater group "La Barraca" that García Lorca also had.
