A scarecrow

This is a story about the last living scare crow. "Shyamal" work as a scare crow for a landlord, that's his only profession. But with time, he is now the only living scarecrow in the village, somehow trying to keep this profession alive. But what happen when his landlord also plan to buy an artificial scarecrow? This is a story of war, between human and artificial products, in the world of profession.

Director Biography - Soumya Roy Choudhury

Soumya Roy Choudhury's love for film started from his theatre days, when he worked as a child artist in multiple plays. Then he completed his B.Sc in mass communication from St. Xaviers College and pursued his Masters Degree from Jadavpur University in Film Studies. He started his professional Career as a Corporate Editor and later on started writing script for Prominent Bengali channels and OTT's. He started making his own short format films from 2019 and gained a reputation doing that. He made several Corporate films, Music Videos. Web series, Documentary as well.

Director Statement

This film is a statement on loss of profession due to Artificial Intelligence/machines where human work force suffering every single day. Used that as a metaphor in this story. The whole film based on that same principal but not showing any of it directly. Also except the prime protagonists, the other characters of this film are non actors, real villagers. This film is a take on magic realism as well, as the profession itself is a fantasy.
