do you see light as i see it?
"do you see light as i see it?" is an exploration of light through the lens of astigmatism, revealing a beautiful perspective of ordinary encounters. As light bends and shifts, the narrative encourages the audience to look inward—challenging them to reflect on their own perceptions of beauty and to reconstruct their identity and values in a more authentic way.

Kaia Green is a transgender artist from Baltimore who brings a strong background in music production, composition, and recording to a wide range of introspective creative projects. While studying at the Peabody Institute, she began exploring visual media and experimental film, using these forms to expand her artistic expression. Her work often explores themes of identity, transformation, and the lived experiences of LGBTQ individuals. Her latest piece—her debut film—examines self-identity through a profound shift in perception, marking an evolution in her artistic journey.
This project is the product of two experiences critical to how I perceive the world and myself. My partner has an astigmatism, and during one of my late night drives, she asked me if I saw light in streaks. I wanted to create a project that captured the beauty I saw in these ephemeral blurs and streaks when I really noticed them. Later that week, I was spending time with my family at home, and something clicked for me. These changing lights are always around me. They are my siblings, my parents, my partner, and my friends. It is every person who has grown to be beautiful and authentic. This is what I have decided to cherish and protect. I think in times like these, we must each find our "lights," and find fulfillment as an active piece of loving community.
