Director Biography - Rafael Tolentino da Silva

Born in August'89, in Lisbon, early on I was introduced and charmed by the pencils' world, to drawing — around five-ish, although, at three was already a master of rock painting. Later, at Caldas da Rainha, I decided to go through Design. But it wasn't it at all. For whom who always thrilled with cartoons it's actually hard to believe it took so long to realize this was really what wanted to do. Tell stories, be them animated stories or just in a drawing.

Influences comes from everywhere: books, paintings, music… ideas. From names such as Bill Tytla, Art Babbit, Börge Ring, Joanna Quinn, Bill Plympton… was with Richard William’s “Animator’s survival kit“ that traditional animation started to make sense for me.
