Starting from July 8, 2023 we invite filmmakers
to submit feature, music and documentary movies to:

"Fight for Freedom and Democracy"

Dispatches of War International Film Festival,
Kyiv, Ukraine Documentary and Feature Films Festival
This festical was established in 2022 year.
It is dedicated to the tragedy of the War in Ukraine 2014-2023 years.

DoWIFF is ogranized by a group of independant film makers from Ukraine with the idea to demonstrate international solidarity with people who fight for their rights and freedom and with victims of wars.
DoWIFF is held under support of National Recearch Institute of Ukraine Studies, Kyiv, Ukraine and National Academy of Cultural Managers of Ukraine.

The second missions of the festival is to promote Ukraine culture and provide networking for film makers with ukrainian background from all over the world and uniting our community through the power of cinema.

We anticipate arrising of a New Wave of movie makers with new styles and approaches for film making , on the background of the war in Ukraine and other tragedies in the world.

1. OFFICIAL SELECTION – COMPETITION

The festival selects the best works of journalists and artists made in 2021-2022 dedicated to listed below topics related to war. Please avoid propaganda and 18+ content in films and reels.

Following to our worldview priorities will be appreciated: Life, Freedom, Victory, Truth, Rational, National, Democratic, Inspiration, Global, Future, Jesus, Individual, Postmodern, Dovzhenko, Agon.

CATEGORIES OF FILMS AND REELS FOR THE COMPETITION

- Documentary films and Journalists’ investigations (full length and short)
- Witness videos of amateurs up to 1 minute long and films shot on mobile gadgets
- Feature films (full length and short length)
- Music/Video clip/Dance/Performance/Visual aesthetics/Social advertising
- Military PC/Gadget games

THEMES
Dispatches from the war in Ukraine 2014-2022
Documentary reels made by amateurs and professionals will be evaluated separately in as follows topics
- Volunteers and Army heroes of war
- Heroism of Rescue teams and Medics
- Everyday people’s labor for the Victory in small business and industry
- Worldwide support of Ukraine struggle

War for freedom and independence.
Films dedicated to the historical struggle of the Ukrainian people against Russian colonial aggression, the goal of which is the destruction of Ukrainian culture. Welcome movies about peoples who support Ukraine in this struggle. We invite films about the struggle for independence and democracy of other nations.

Investigations and studies about war and enemies, foreign and domestic.
The idea behind this theme is to draw attention to the work of journalists and filmmakers that are important to society.

War crimes and human pain.
This theme is dedicated to the memorialization of mass killings of civilians or prisoners of war, the investigation of crimes and the punishment of war criminals. The topic includes discourses against fascism, totalitarianism, racism, colonialism, etc.

Stories of "Dogs of War".
In this topic, we want to see war through the eyes of mercenaries, “Soldiers of Fortune” - people for whom war is everyday work.

The theme of money, war and power.
We invite research into the hidden causes and mechanisms that drive and feed wars.
Stories about the army and stories about war heroes. Movies about war and military service and about war heroes.

Be Strong.
Welcome discourse about the right of the people to keep and bear Arms for personal protection or for country struggle against aggression.

Philosophical thought that is understandable to the viewer.
When a person experiences the boundary between life and death, his worldview is transformed. We want to see stories about such people.

A feminist film.
Movies related to all of the topics with a female lead.

Minorities and migrants, life in the occupied territories.
This topic is dedicated to all kinds of minorities who are victims or heroes of war. We also invite films about the suffering of people in the occupied territories or colonies.

Blue and yellow.
We welcome films related to Ukrainian culture and art, national cinematography or films made by Ukrainians living in all countries of the world.

Life goes on.
We expect artists to offer optional images of the future.

Film adaptation of the classic.
In this theme we will evaluate modern adaptations of classic literature about war or remakes of classic war films.

The theme of veterans and people rehabilitation after the war.
Stories about syndromes that are the consequences of war and how to start a new life after the war is over.

Humor/Comedy/Mocumentary films.
They say, humor is the best medicine. Looking for funny war stories.

Military computer games, sports and patriotic education.
We will evaluate the themes of patriotic education, social responsible youth upbringing.

Films at the choice of the Jury of the festival will be invited

Запрошуємо до участі митців із фільмами знятими в 2021-2023 роках. В стрічках мають бути українські чи англійські субтитри. Будь ласка, уникайте пропаганди та вмісту 18+ у роликах і фільмах.
Гроші, зібрані під час фестивалю будуть передані постраждалим від війни в Україні.
Програма фестивального заходу буде містити класи з обміну досвідом серед кіномитців:
-Продюсерські пітчінги
-Мистецькі лекції ї зустрічі
-Майстер класи
-Класи зворотного зв'язку
-Ретроспективний показ фільмів на тему війни.

1. Розділ. ОФІЦІЙНИЙ ВІДБІР – КОНКУРС
Фестиваль відбирає кращі роботи журналістів і митців присвячених наступним темам, що стосуються війн.
Наші світоглядні пріоритети: Життя, Свобода, Перемога, Правда, Розум, Національне, Демократичне, Натхнення Глобальність, Майбутнє, Icyc, Індивідуальне, Postmodern, Довженко Агон.
КАТЕГОРІЇ РОБІТ
-Документальний фільм (повний та короткий метр)
-Свідкові ролики аматорів тривалістю до 1 хв та стрічки, зняті на гаджети
-Художній фільм (повний та короткий метр)
-Музика/Кліп/Танець/Перформанс/Візуальна естетика/Соціальна реклама
-Військові ігри для комп’ютера чи гаджета.

ТЕМИ
Депеші з війни в Україні
Документальні ролики, створені аматорами та професіоналами, оцінюватимуться окремо за наступними темами:
- Герої війни: добровольці і військові
- Героїзм рятувальників і медіків
- Повсякденна праця людей задля Перемоги в малому бізнесі та промисловості
- Всесвітня підтримка боротьби України
Війна за свободу і незалежність.
Фільми, присвячені історичній боротьбі українського народу проти російської колоніальної агресії метою якої є знищення української культури. Стрічки про народи, які підтримують Україну в цій боротьбі. Вітаємо фільми про боротьбу за незалежність і демократію інших народів.
Розслідування і дослідження про війну і ворогів, зовнішніх і внутрішніх.
Ідея цієї теми полягає в тому, щоб привернути увагу до робіт журналістів і режисерів, які є важливими для суспільства.
Військові злочини і людський біль.
Ця тема присвячена меморіалу масових вбивств цивільних людей або військовополонених, розслідуванню злочинів та покаранню військових злочинців. Тема включає дискурси проти фашизму, тоталітаризму, расизму, колоніалізму і т.і.
Історії «Псів війни».
У цій темі ми хочемо побачити війну очима найманців, людей, для яких війна - це буденна робота.
Тема грошей, війни та влади. Запрошуємо дослідження про приховані причини та механізми, які рухають і живлять війни.
Історії про військо та історії про героїв війни. Стрічки про війну і службу у війську і про героїв війни.
Філософська думка яка зрозуміла глядачеві. Коли людина переживає межу життя і смерті, її світогляд трансформується: із раба він стає вільною людиною. Ми хочемо побачити думки вільної людини.
Феміністичний фільм. Фільми, пов’язані з усіма переліченими темами, із головною героїнею жінкою
Меншини та мігранти, життя на окупованих територіях. Ця тема присвячена всім видам меншин, які є жертвами або героями війни. Також запрошуємо до участі в фестивалі фільми про страждання людей на окупованих територіях чи в колоніях.
Синій і жовтий. Вітаємо стрічки, пов’язані з українською культурою та мистецтвом, національним кінематографом або зняті вихідцями з України, що перебувають у всіх країнах світу.
Життя продовжується. Ми очікуємо, що митці запропонують спільноті різні варіанти образу майбутнього.
Адаптація класики в кіно. У цій темі буде оцінюватися сучасна екранізація літератури або римейки класичних фільмів про війну.
Тема ветеранів та реабілітації після війни. Розповіді про синдроми, які є наслідками війни та про те, як почати нове життя після війни.
Гумор/Комедія/Мокументальні фільми. Кажуть, гумор – найкращі ліки. Шукаємо смішні історії про війну.
Військові комп’ютерні ігри, спорт і патріотичне виховання. Ми будемо оцінювати теми патріотичного виховання та соціальної відповідальності молоді.
