Director Statement

I am a high school junior, and I know that my generation is the first to grow up with screens and mobile devices. Because the ubiquity of screens is relatively new, the relationship between human development and screens is not well understood. I was curious about how screens are affecting my generation. Despite an abundance of opinions about screens, communities are still searching for guidance on how to live in a digital world. I pitched my idea to a local filmmaking program for teens, but was not accepted. Instead, I pursued the project by myself. With the help of a few friends and my local library, (dis)connected is complete and ready to contribute to the conversation about how to thrive in a virtual age.
