deep dive
"deep dive“ emerged from an exploration of the concept of gamification within the capitalist structures of our present time. Central to the research in the process of making was McKenzie Wark's concept of „Gamespace,“. It has been depicted in the film as embodiment of fictional spaces, such as a waiting room or
an infinite swimming pool, reflecting a state of absurdity, the uncanny, and the alienation of contemporary humankind within its self-constructed complex systems. These systems, the nightmarish bureaucratic or digital reality frameworks, infiltrate the subconscious of the contemporary individual, with the setting in a game engine attempting to evoke and resonate with this disoriented state of our gamified realty.

Yashar is born in Tehran, Iran and is based currently in Berlin, Germany. He holds a B.A. in Photography from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and has since continued his studies in Media Art, in the Class for Installation and Space, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig.
Yashar Shirdel is an emerging artist exploring the intersections of storytelling, fiction, and digital media within the contexts of physical materiality and spatial practices. Viewing digital and physical spaces as pre-constructed frameworks that embody current human and non-human realities, Yashar deconstructs and reimagines these environments through his practice. By leveraging diverse digital tools and engaging with game engines, his work navigates the interplay between critique and imagination, interrogating the foundations of art-making while evoking a sense of the fantastical.
