Decay
Decay follows the psychological struggle of a woman, Amy.
The world around her gradually becomes an enemy, which she thinks is destroying her beauty and her health.
At the end, Amy believes the only way to survive is remaining still in her bed forever.
This short film is a metaphor of the modern society, where advertisement, television, and beauty standards, can lead people to paranoia and schizophrenia.

Mimi van Rinsum is a 20 years old film maker, from Netherlands. She studied theatre at High School in Rotterdam, where she graduated in Art-Drama. In 2015-2016 she studied at the European Film College in Denmark , where she got the Diploma in Documentary, Screenwriting and Lighting for film. She is currently studying Audio Visual Media at Utrecht school of art. She is interested in using psychological issues in her movies and tries to portray these in both documentary and fiction.
The movie is mostly about how you can mentally push yourself so far that you go crazy. It is about a normal woman who has had no problems in her life, but her own human fears are making her so obsessed with something normally seen as unimportant. This is something only humans can do and separates us from other animals. But this ability is as negative as it is positive. Because we can think and realize we are alive, we can also have fear of dying, fear of something that is unavoidable. The style of the movie is experimental/art. Closest to a combination of a drama and a psychological thriller. I combined ideas from films such as "Requiem for a dream" and "Mr. Nobody", where I believe the editing and sound design are perfectly fused in order to make the viewer experience the emotions even more.
