ABOUT: Named as one of the "20 Coolest Film Festivals" and “Top 50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” by MovieMaker Magazine, deadCenter screens over 100 films, hosts legendary special events, provides one-one-one opportunities between filmmakers and distribution professionals, and provides a window into independent film with our Icon panel series- featuring luminaries such as Carol Littleton, Judd Nelson, Bob Berney, Elvis Mitchell, and two time Oscar winner Albert S. Ruddy.

WHY deadCenter: deadCenter is run by working filmmakers. We know how difficult and overwhelming the distribution process can be. Since its inception in 2012, our Distribution Forum has served to ease that process. deadCenter invites sales agents and distributors from across the country to meet with every accepted dCFF filmmaker attending the festival. Whether you have a feature with tons of celebrities or a short film you made in high school, this is your chance to bend the ear of a distribution professional and find out how it all works.

ELIGIBILITY:
OKLAHOMA PREMIERE STATUS: Any film entered must be an Oklahoma, US, or World Premiere. Any film entered may not screen publicly in Oklahoma prior to June 14, 2020. Exceptions to this rule are Music Videos, Virtual Reality, Episodic, and Student Films (High School and College.) Cast and crew screenings are acceptable as long as they are not open to or advertised to the public.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Films that have been previously screened publicly in theaters in the US, aired on US television, or are available online for viewing in their entirety (as part of a distribution plan, including publicly accessible YouTube and Vimeo links) prior to or during the festival June 11-14, 2020 are NOT eligible to screen. Exceptions to this rule are Music Videos and Virtual Reality. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE SCREENINGS AT FILM FESTIVALS PRIOR TO deadCenter.

Submitted films must completed no earlier than January 1, 2018.

FEE WAIVERS: deadCenter Film Festival is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit and therefore we are unable to offer fee waivers under any circumstance.

EXHIBITION FORMATS: All feature films must be available for the festival exhibition on DCP with BluRays back-ups. Short Films will have the option of uploading a DCP or other high resolution file to our secure site. VR films will be asked to upload files to our secure sight.

LANGUAGE: Films produced in languages other than English must have English sub-titles.

STUDENT FILMS: Students MUST provide proof of student status (copy of student ID) at the time of production.

ROUGH CUTS: Rough cuts are accepted for entry. Rough cut submissions must indicate the intended final running time and work remaining to be completed with your entry. If accepted, films must be completed by May 1, 2020, in order to be screened.

MARKETING: Your entry authorizes deadCenter Film Festival to use clips of your film for marketing and promotional purposes on television, online, in advertising, news and/or other media. Short films may be included on a compilation program screened as part of our statewide education and promotion program around Oklahoma.

ADDITIONAL TERMS OF ENTRY: Entry confirms and warrants required legal authority to submit the entry into the festival and to use ALL music, images, and content in the entry. This means that when you submit your film, you are guaranteeing that you have the permission to submit. And, by submitting, you guarantee that all of the music and image rights have been secured.

LOSS AND DAMAGES: The deadCenter Film Festival will take all possible care in the handling of entries. The Festival cannot be responsible for damage or loss to films or files while in our possession or in transit.

THE FINE PRINT: By submitting this film, I understand that I am agreeing to the following:

I own or control the copyright in and to, and am duly authorized to submit this film to the deadCenter Film Festival and to the best of my knowledge, all statements on this document are true.

This film contains no material which could result in tort claims, royalty claims, claims for breach of contract, or claims of any sort whatsoever.

I fully indemnify and hold deadCenter Film Festival and its partners harmless from: a) damage to or loss of the film print or videotapes en route to or from deadCenter Film Festival or during the course of festival possession of the entry; and b) from any claims which may arise in connection with this film.

If a claim arises in connection with this film, I will bear all the costs of defense incurred by deadCenter Film Festival and pay any award of damages that may ensue.

I also agree to reimburse deadCenter Film Festival for any attorney fees incurred in connection with the defense of such a claim.

I understand that deadCenter Film Festival reserves the right to place my film in the appropriate competition category.

By submitting my film, I am indicating that I understand, comply with and agree to the Terms of Entry and the eligibility requirements.

    When you submit your film to dCFF, you’re more than just a submission: you’re a member of the community. For me, that’s what makes this festival shine. The staff are friendly, supportive, and accessible. Opportunities to meet other filmmakers and industry professionals are widely available and encouraged. Volunteers are appreciated and acknowledged.
    This year faced the challenge of adapting to a world shutdown by COVID. Rather than let it drag them down, dCFF rerouted their entire festival online, pioneering the new genre of virtual film festival while retaining every ounce of its native culture. Rock solid communication, a laundry list of films, live discussion panels, and networking opportunities for filmmakers and audiences alike provided a genuine film experience in the virtual festival world.
    Thanks for another legendary year proving great storytelling will always stand the test of time.

  • It was a honor to screen EX DISPOSER at this year's deadCenter Festival. I'm a first-time filmmaker and my film's festival run is now, during a pandemic. deadCenter was quick to accommodate to a virtual platform. They were great to communicate, very professional, and just were all around great. I'm glad for this new connection with deadCenter - I can't wait to support them / have them support me in the years to come. Thank you for the love!

  • deadCenter did a great job of putting on a virtual film fest this year due to Covid. The programming was fantastic and the ability to join in a filmmakers Q&A really helped to make it a great experience. I hope to return in the future!
