Experiencing Interruptions?

500 Years

This performance uses music to imagine rising sea levels across five centuries – as a result of global warming – from pre-industrial times to a 3°C future. Originally inspired by a 17th century Old Master's seascape, '500 Years' is a form of re-telling devised by artist David Cass and featuring acclaimed violinists Aisling O’Dea, Emma Purslow & Anita Vedres. First performed at Christie's, London, where two further paintings on display within the gallery – of Venice's Grand Canal by Canaletto – helped to emphasise the urgency of this issue.
