Dámilólá-Abíódún Olábìyí is a heterogeneous filmmaker skilled in screenwriting, cinematography, directing, editing, and sound design. He honed his craft over time by working with and under industry veterans like Femi Adebayo, Geshin Salvador, Olorunleke Mautin, Seun Afolabi, Biodun Stephen, Musa Jeffery David, Dare Olaitan, Kayode Kasum, Rogers Ofime and many more.
Dámilólá’s film education background includes, but is not limited to, Femi Adebayo’s film school, where he graduated as his set’s best student, and with the best student writer award. During his time at the school, he earned best student director, best student writer, and best student film accolades for his [unreleased] debut short film AGRA: BACK TO THE FUTURE PAST, which he wrote, directed and starred in. He also got best writing and best direction accolades for a stage play he co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in for the Adebayo Salami stage play competition.
Dámilólá’s notable mainstream works include KING OF THIEVES, PICTURE PERFECT series, OKOTO series, and AFRICA MAGIC GLASS HOUSE. Commercially, he has worked in cinematography, editing, and colour grading capacities for brands like ACCESS BANK GROUP, DELOITTE, ONGA, IHS TOWERS and others. Dámilólá has also worked hand-in-hand with GUGURU STUDIOS (one of the executive producers of MAMI WATA), contributed to the documentation of the National Arts Theatre's rehabilitation as a camera operator, gaffer, editor, and colourist, and worked as a camera operator and first assistant director with Hamad Wil (executive producer/1st AC of MAMI WATA) on a few projects including the 2023 show documentary films for SEYI VIBEZ and BALLORANKING and other projects.
