IRIS is an 11 year old girl who lives with her grandmother and her cat CRISTAL. One night while the grandmother and the girl were sleeping, death arrives unexpectedly to take the soul of the grandmother but accidentally extracts with her the soul of the girl, the cat CRISTAL when she sees what is happening tries to stop death who escapes to the beyond through a mirror without success.

The CRISTAL cat decides to travel to the afterlife in search of Iris where she will face difficult obstacles but where she will also meet fantastic creatures that will teach her about the cycle of life and reincarnation, discovering that her life is connected to IRIS from past lives.

Director Biography - Diego Gaviria

Diego Gaviria Nieto. Audiovisual producer from Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogota, Colombia.
Passionate about film and art, he has more than 12 years of experience in the audiovisual and artistic world.
He has worked as animation director in the videoclips Lost, Emavlas and in the documentary film, This is not a Ball in the development of the Title sequence (film shortlisted for the Oscars).
Among his most outstanding projects is Nexus 7, a dance video that won an honorable mention at the video dance festival in Bogota and was projected in more than 8 countries.

In 2018 he won the FDC stimulus for animated short film, with the project Iris de Cristal, currently the project is on the road of festivals.
In 2018 he founded Ave Mercuri Films Production Company specializing in video clips. to date the production house has developed and produced more than 50 video clips.
In these projects Diego Gaviria has served as Producer, Director, Director of Photography, post producer and digital artist in most of the projects.

He is currently developing his first animated feature film called NOA.

Director Statement

Let the Light be turned on and let the spaces be illuminated, let the forms be painted and the scenes be filled with magic. So that in these converge, in the light the everyday, and in the shadows their dark contrasts.

As a visual artist I have not only worked as an illustrator and animator. I have also worked as a director of photography. For this reason I have always sought the best of each of these universes. On the one hand, illustration allows me to create and imagine surreal, magical and dreamlike spaces that escape the logic of the real world. On the other hand, photography allows me to understand the magic of light, atmospheres and the power of textures, elements that give great beauty to all kinds of situations, even the most everyday ones.
Therefore, I seek to capture in my work all these aesthetic values and thus create a moving experience that has the power to lead viewers to discover a sublime experience.
