The year of 2019. China suffers from a nation-wide downward plunge in the home property price.

Lu, 45 years old, works an ordinary job at a state-owned company and lives an ordinary life in a common real estate in the suburbs of Shanghai. It takes him four hours daily to commute between work and home.

One day at dusk, Lu, on his way back home, discovers a corpse on the lawn of his estate. The moment he is about to call the police, it occurs to him that once this is exposed, the price of his apartment will drop even more. Then he will never be able to sell his apartment at its currently listed price.

In order to avoid further loss, Lu calls up Dong and Feng, two buddies in the same estate. The trio drive off in an old red Santana car to dump the corpse in another desolate housing estate that’s far from theirs.

But on the morning of the second day, they discover that the corpse has returned to where it was. After a confused and astonished debate, the trio follow Lu's leadership to return the body to the spot of dumping the last night.

When they arrive at the other neighborhood again that night, they see guards on duty in the estate. So they drive away to a void construction site to dump on the side way. A night guard discovers them. Out of desperation, Lu drives over him and escapes.

When they are on the run, the night guard drives down to block their red Santana. After some hysterical rounds of bantering, cursing and tossing the corpse back and forth, the fight gets physical. At the very last beat of the fight, Lu takes up a stone and kills the night guard. The trio sink the two corpse and the car.

On their way home, the trio are all upset. Originally they were only to dump the body. Now it has become an actual killing. Due to this capricious housing price, they have sacrificed everything they have…

When Lu is about to sign the contract to sell his apartment, Feng knocks on the door again. With the news: The corpse is back again!

Director Biography - SHI WEI

Graduated from Department of Photography, Beijing Film Academy, and became an assistant to photographer and a photographer at MOVIOLA.SH, and later became a freelance photographer in 2006.
Produced many short films and feature films as director and photographer: director of photography for film “Happiness in 2010”; photographer for film “Net”.
Short film: “Gone with the Wind”, director and screenwriter.
Officially became freelance director in 2011.
Years of experience as a photographer enabled him to master the application of camera language and lighting to create an appropriate atmosphere for the film, and to capture the delicate change of emotion of the characters to interpret the film. Regardless of types, be it story and emotions, humor and comedy, horror and drama, or scenery humanities and fashion, he is able to interpret it with unique aesthetic perspective and skilled film language.
Shi Wei’s work won Longxi silver medal, and entered rounds of various advertising festivals. In 2015, he directed Milan World Expo “Cheongsam Shanghai”.

Director Statement

In China, the government is focused on growing GDP, of course, it brings more wealth to the people but at the same time the gap between rich and poor is widening. Many people speculation in real estate, especially in the first 5-15 years of China's first-tier cities real estate prices turned at least 20 times even more. And ordinary people even if the income of 20 times the growth can not afford such a price.
So my film is based on this starting point: Suppose that when one day China's housing prices began to fall sharply when the general people to bring the pressure of life stress pressure caused by the absurd story. This is a thought-provoking film.
