From his privileged point of view in outer space, a jaded nobleman feeds off the spiritual energy of planet Earth. As he himself is watched from above, his overindulgent appetite pushes the boundaries of what his poor aristocratic frame can cope with, bringing dangerous consequences to the fabric of space and time. Peoples of the Earth, beware of Duke Cosmico: you are what he eats.

C.J. Lazaretti is a film and video editor based in Glasgow, UK. Since his debut co-editing the documentary The Gospel According to St Derek (featuring Tilda Swinton), he has worked mostly on British short film projects and TV shows. Find out more about him on

Director Statement

Thank you for your interest in "Cosmico", my directorial debut short. Film magazine The Spread calls it "original and ingenious." Exploding Cinema describes it as "all your questions about religions answered in three minutes." Not bad for a three-minute short, huh?

"Cosmico" has won two awards at the 2016 Austin Revolution Film Festival in Texas, and has been screened in the US, UK, Germany, Greece, Serbia and South Africa, receiving multiple award nominations at different festivals.
