Director Statement

It was December and I was staring up at my ceiling, as I do so often; I still had no idea what I wanted to talk about. All I knew was, I wanted to create a fluid and engaging story with four main characters, all placed in one location, and have their characters develop before our eyes, in a unique manner. Suddenly, I recalled a situation I was in with my mother, when I was 13 years old, and we we’re both sleeping in the same room together in my aunt’s house. While reminiscing about the situation, it hit me like a ton of bricks. At that time, I didn’t have a home to call my own. We we’re homeless! And my mother is coming home in the late hours of the night, trying to save up money to make sure we had a home to call our own. My mother did such an excellent job of shielding me from the real problems we we’re faced with that my life carried on, no matter how upset and deflated she would be.

To me, Confused...by Love represents a point in our lives when we love our significant other, and when times get rough, we don’t necessarily know how to handle the situation as it compounds our normalcy and often allows us to question if the situation we are in, is “right,” or if it is “wrong.” “Confused” brings about a question to challenge people if “we” truly have the positive things around us to live and thrive; and if those things are worth fighting for, if their worth going hard for; and/or if the love you have is worth the battles you want to fight for every day along with your personal possessions. Love can sometimes cause us to do things that damage or hurt our significant others, and sometimes, no matter how hard we try to fix them, it can cause irreparable harm to our physical and emotional selves, which could impede our progress to move forward in each of our endeavors. Jealously, hate, envy, selfishness, and greed are often pinpoint issues that lead to the destruction of love. Believe you me, I’ve been through it all through my personal and professional actions.

Through these actions it gave me a much needed outlet to discuss these matters in a forum that would challenge love, marriage, friendship, infidelity, and a number of other issues lovers and friends go through when becoming responsible adults. I firmly believe this movie with SAVE marriages and help us get our financial and personal houses in order because, I feel that we need more films to talk about these important issues, so people could be more aware and alert as we continue to build towards wealth and happiness. I could not be more proud of a team of hard working cast & crew members, who helped us raise over $8,000 dollars in 30 days on Indiegogo.com back in March of 2015. I also could not be more proud of the sponsors, businesses, and supporters that came together for six (6) day straight, who believed in this script, and helped us put this film all together in a manner that is simply, unbelievable. My hope for people who watch this film is that everyone will be able to be entertained and inspired to enjoy love and all that it brings, and to not be compounded by the issues that plague loved ones, which causes people to lose their homes, money, and love for their significant other.

May this movie bring you joy and happiness, as we certainly need it these days! Just make sure, you aren’t “Confused...by Love!” -- Crosby Tatum Boston, November 1, 2015
