Director Statement

I wanted to tie technology to religiosity with this short. The idea that we spend more attention to the virtual world than our reality is a subject often explored, but the uniqueness of this narrative lends credence to confusion of what is normal in our modern age.

Lyova Beckwitt plays our protagonist Jeff, and he skillfully guides the audience through a bizarre string of events after the computers go down in his home. Like a coming of age tale, I wanted him to disturb the status quo and resist the hi-tech invasion in the same way a youth would shake a religious family's grip on their son's imagination. The parallels create a surreal and quirky couple scenes that show what a creativity shunning family might look like, all the while attempting to illustrate how the internet acts like an addictive drug (hence the family's reaction when it's taken away).
