Director Biography - Christophe Granier-Deferre

Christopher’s feature debut DIRTY WEEKEND, starring Pierre Perrier and Jamie Parker, premiered in 2013 at the prestigious Montreal International Film Festival, and screened at the Beijing International Film Festival the following year. The film won the Online Film Critics Society Award for best Foreign Film in 2013 and was released in the US by levelFILMS.

In 2014 CGD was commissioned by 4D Pictures to adapt John Welter’s novel Night of the Avenging Blowfish. He is currently working on an original script called The General set in Ningbo in the 1920s.

Christopher ran the third round of iFeatures for Creative England, BBC Films and the BFI where he was responsible for the selection, development and production of a slate of debut features, a process that saw 400 projects reduced to 3, with 18 of them developed to treatment or script stage.

Christopher is currently studying for a Masters in Chinese Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), and has a BA in English Literature & Drama from Goldsmiths College (University of London).

Christopher has made a number of award-winning short films.
