I am a cinematographer and I created and a directed the first episode of our new web series called Set Stories. I am currently putting all of my energy in getting this web series funding for its first season.
My name is Charles Cartwright. I am an aspiring filmmaker. My area of expertise is cinematography in both camera and lighting. I currently work as a freelance cinematographer, camera assistance and swing GNE. I graduated from Scottsdale Community College with an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Motion Pictures Production. During film school, I mainly shot short films as a DP for independent directors. After I graduated in 2013, I continued working in Arizona on small shows as a Gaffer or Camera Assistant. Camera work was very hard to find in Arizona, so I moved to Los Angeles to look for any kind of camera work. I recently moved to Los Angeles to achieve my goal in becoming a professional cinematographer in the film industry, even if it means starting from the very bottom as a camera PA or working a few hours a week in a camera rental house. I am a very flexible person and I know how to quickly solve problems with the time and resources that I have. I worked in sales as a Technology Sales Supervisor where customer service was primary. It was during that position when I learned how to properly communicate with different type of people. I have a niche for finding out what people want by talking to them for a short period of time. I have worked on countless feature films, short films, videos, commercials, music videos, and web series as a cinematographer, camera assistant, gaffer, electrician, grip, editor and PA. I really want to stray away from grip and electric and I want to only work in the camera department. My passion is so strong for cinematography in both camera and lighting that I am constantly study and explore new ways for improving my craft, via reading ASC Magazines and books such as "Painting with Light" by Jon Alton ASC and "The Camera Assistant Manuel for Camera Assistants and Camera Operators" by David E. Elkins SOC. I absolutely love camera, film and digital. I keep up with all of the new cameras and lenses. I also keep up with cinematography articles, tip and interviews on film website such as premiumbeats.com and nofilmschool.com. I currently shoot Corporate videos and commercials for Lucky 20 Pictures Production. My work for them can be found at lucky20pictures.com. I am currently focusing on my web series Set Stories in hopes of getting funding for its first season. I am now working on producing and distributing this show.
