Hello there!
I’m Gianluca Carrara (Catania, Sicily – September 12, 1991) also known as Charles Carrara, I’m an award-winning Italian film director, writer, actor, producer, vfx artist and vfx supervisor.

Growing up with the films of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, I developed a deep passion for directing and visual effects from an early age. In 2010, I graduated from ITI G.B. Vaccarini, and in 2016, I earned my degree from the Catania Academy of Fine Arts. My final thesis focused on special and visual effects, including an in-depth analysis of industry-leading companies such as Industrial Light & Magic, Framestore, and Weta Digital.

During my studies, I founded GoodFellas Digital Entertainment, an independent production team composed entirely of young talent. I am the creator of Death Rising, a web series set in a post-apocalyptic world teeming with zombies. For this project, I took on multiple roles, including director, screenwriter, actor, executive producer, vfx artist, vfx producer and vfx supervisor.

In 2018, I played the lead role in the music video “Immobile” by Italian singer Edy. In the same year I worked as a model for major brands such as Bacardi and Sanpellegrino. In December 2020, I played the role of a Spanish soldier fighting on the front lines in the film “Cyrano” directed by Joe Wright. In 2021, my short screenplay “The Humdrum” won Best Short Script at the New York Movie Awards, reached the semi-finals of the New York International Screenplay Awards, and was a finalist in the Florida Script Challenge.

With over a decade of experience in the film industry, I consider myself a highly creative professional with a strong passion for storytelling. I am committed to the craft and constantly explore a variety of genres, styles, and techniques, always seeking unexpected solutions and innovative ways to bring creative projects to life.

Five of my influences for filmmaking are Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino.
