Cassiah grew up travelling between the UK, USA and Canada. Film and theatre were always at the core of Cassiah's life; be it performing in the basement of an Aunt's house, or writing a Jackie Chan inspired script Hawaii Spy at age 9.
Unsure whether she would end up in front or behind the screen/stage, Cassiah went on to study Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham where she graduated with first class honours. She fell in love with writing after a summer in the USA and was hooked.
Cassiah soon got her 'lucky break', meeting Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha OBE on a train. She worked with Gurinder for a year on her theatre and film projects, and maintains a close working creative relationship.
Since then, Cassiah has had 3 writing commissions; directed 3 music videos; been involved in 2 feature films; and had her play Under My Thumb nominated for a national award and debuted at Greenwich Theatre, London in September 2016. The play toured in 2017 in London, Brighton and Edinburgh to critical acclaim.
Currently, Cassiah is in post-production on her BFI Network film 'Catch a Butcher'.
