Experiencing Interruptions?

Cascade Crossroads

A documentary film about building bridges, both literal and metaphorical. Cascade Crossroads chronicles the amazing story of seemingly opposite interests joining forces to restore a critical wildlife corridor while improving Washington State’s vital transportation corridor over the Cascade Mountains. Told in the varied voices of the men and women who worked across ideological, political, and geographical differences to set in motion the world’s largest wildlife project of its kind, Cascade Crossroads shows what can happen – for people and the environment – when we build bridges.

Director Statement

When first approached by the I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition to make this film, I was initially grateful for an opportunity to work on a project highlighting the rich beauty of the landscape in Washington State's Cascade Mountains and the diversity of wildlife living within them. But as fellow Producers Kristoffer Browne, Sandy Dang Asher and I began our work we quickly realized what an amazing story we had to tell, one not only with regional and historical importance, but one full of hope and a critical message for these challenging times. A story where people who are traditionally opposed came together to make a tremendous difference.

The I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East Project, and the wildlife crossings and roadway improvements within it, is a win-win for people and animals that offers a new model for major infrastructure projects bisecting wild places. Cascade Crossroads aims to not only share this unique story but also inspire action in other landscapes facing similar tensions between wildlife and roadways.
