Prior to completing the Advanced Diploma in Screen and Media at MAPS Film School and while working as a Research Assistant at Flinders University, Carolyn wrote and produced two short, educational films concerning teenage pregnancy, one of which, If I were Ben, is used in schools today. With Grace, a dramatic short, was completed while a student at MAPS, and Carolyn also made a documentary The Book Restorer within the course. With Grace was a finalist in the inaugural Fleurieu Film Festival. In Our Blood was created by the ensemble crew “The Mapsters” for the 48 Hour Film Project in Oct/Nov 2015. Carolyn won best director for this. In 2016 Carolyn produced a number of short films, three of which she also wrote and directed. The Best Medicine and The Blue Pony are now on the festival circuit, while Wishing You Well and My Light (which was written and directed by Rebecca Duncker) are complete and were finalists in the 2017 Fleurieu Film Festival. Both won awards. Wishing You Well has won awards in the USA and Canadian drama and fantasy/Sci-fi genres. Playing with Fire was completed in November 2017 and was selected for the Berlin Short Film Festival and MUFF 2018. Carolyn is currently in post-production for a number of short films: The Ton, Wrong Tracks and Mad as a Cut Snake. Her written and directed film, The Silent Song, is also in post-production, a drama set in 1969. Carolyn is preparing a documentary based around two strong South Australian women and their historic house.
