Caleb Short is an award winning filmmaker, interested in the sublime and the surreal, graduate of Bard College and Oxford University.
He has won the Shorty Award twice, once as a team member, and again, as a team lead - writer, director, and editor of Serhant Studios 'Through The Lens' of series, creating narrative films in multi-million dollar real estate listings; which can be viewed here: https://shortyawards.com/16th/ThroughTheLensOf
His Bard College thesis film, 'Fell Awake,' landed in 7 international film festivals, winning awards in 6. Shadow of a Pale Moon is his newest film shot by New York Times Photographer, and celebrated Indie New York City cinematographer Gus Aronson, and produced alongside Angelo Chammah, a crew member of 'Anora' and newfound member of Sean Baker's producing team.
Caleb works and lives in New York City, finding inspiration most when time and money can allow for travel to discover new people, places, and stories.
By the Tides is my newest film; shot exclusively on Kodak Super 8MM film on the Canon 814, a camera released in March of 1967.
Sailing is such an intrinsically romantic and timeless endeavor. I wanted to capture our journey in a shooting format that paid homage to this sentiment. The film is a documentary of our voyage but also a tonal meditation on the beauty: sublime, and mysterious, of open waters.
