The desire to rub the fantastical and imagined up against the everyday drives Flora Bradwell’s practice. Flora is a London based artist and filmmaker who studied Fine Art Painting at City & Guilds of London Art School. Winner of the David Ballardie Travel Award in 2008, she travelled to Edinburgh Festival in order to study the bright display of performers there. The ideas of façade and performance continue to influence Flora’s vibrant canvases, site specific interactive installations and artist moving image work.
Flora produced short documentary The Memory Exchange (2009) as part of an interactive art installation at Brixton Village Arcade. RIGHTING, Flora’s first foray into writing and directing, won Best Short Film at Reel Islington Film Festival 2012 and has been screened at over twenty festivals across the UK and internationally. Since the success of RIGHTING Flora has made several other shorts: Ladies premiered at London Short Film Festival in 2014, Just A Pause, a poetry film collaboration was a finalist at Century Film Festival in 2015 and Flora received a commission from HERE Film Festival to create The Ballade of the New River Path which premieres there is April 2015. Flora's alter ego, Bella Lordwarf has also been creating short films, Bozo: The Clown Who Ran Away premiered at Folkestone Triennial in 2014 and I AM BELLA (Hear Me Roar) premiered at TAN LIKE THAT this year.
