Director Biography - Julia Jones

Julia Jones is a film writer & director, a martial artist & wannabe-superhero, a coffee lover & addict. A proud native of both New Jersey and Nashville, this crazy little redhead always knew her future was in telling darkly comedic and sometimes uncomfortably violent tales. Her spirit animal is the fox and she watches far too much anime. Julia doesn’t like talking about herself, but is very charming. She graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2016, and has a job. She views this as an accomplishment. Also, it may be important to mention that Julia’s very Italian family included hitmen for the mafia. You’ve been warned.

Director Statement

Hello! My name is Julia Jones, writer & director of this lil ole' short film, Buckets. And I could not be more thrilled to be sharing this huge piece of my heart with you today!

As you very well know, one has to be a little bit crazy to make movies. But I believe it also takes distinct, pointed empathy and intentional selflessness to make great movies. The common denominator across all of my favorite films is their use of this art form to create a conversation. To communicate an idea in such a way it can spark a true change in perspective. An idea that builds upon what we already experience and observe, and forces us to question what we think we know to be true. That is my hope for this film. That it is a spark.

To me, this is a story about questioning and asking more from the world around you. This is a story about breaking free from social expectations and the set path to happiness we are told exists. I want to be a part of a new war on thought, on expectation. I want to talk about the path to fulfillment, rather than the path to a simplistic idea of happiness. I believe wholeheartedly that this is a story worth sharing, and an idea we need to talk about in our world right now.

Because we are all in this together. So it is our responsibility to help each other up along the way.

I hope you enjoy the film.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Julia Jones :)
