Director Biography - Lori Chandler

If you’re like me, your name is Lori Chandler + you are a writer/filmmaker. And if you are me, well, you have a little production company you like to call “Dinosaurs v. Robots Films LLC.”

Now that we’ve settled that, here’s the skinny on me in the professional sense:

On the stage, I wrote + directed the shows “I Just Have a Lot of Feelings” (Pack Theater) “Britney and Kevin Go Back to the Future” (Annoyance Theater NY) “What Becomes a Legend Most?” (Annoyance Theater NY) and “Ironoclast” (The Queens Secret Theater). I also wrote for The New York Times and Big Think, I suppose because I am very fancy. On screen, I’ve written and directed the short “The Society for Paranormal Healing.” It was a quarter-finalist in the Screencraft Film Fund, a top 10 on Coverfly’s Redlist, a semi-finalist at the DUMBO Film Festival, Official Selection + Best Long-form Short Film winner at the Los Angeles Comedy Film and Screenplay Festival, and an Official Selection + Best Picture Winner at the Austin Comedy Film Festival.

one particularly sleepless evening, under the full moon above brooklyn, staccato thoughts played on a loop in my mind. why is it, i pondered, that so many people are fearful of what i represent? a gay/democratic-socialist/buddhist/coastal artist is, to some, a quite threatening prospect. i am their worst nightmare. but i can't quite figure out why, as i mostly just hang out with my partner and my cat and listen to vinyl and try to be a kind person. so then i wrote a song and made this music video.
