Boiling

Following the style of magical realism as laid out by Misch Orend, Merde tells the story of Jo, an overworked sous-chef at Mer-De Soup, who visits a weird "empty" lot in order to get the last of the ingredients to make a soup to impress a critic and hopefully open her own restaurant.

Director Statement

Many say that art imitates life, and this project is no different. My motivation and vision for this film was to directly reflect the unique circumstances our crew as aspiring filmmakers are going through in our current position in our lives. The worldwide pandemic and other compounding reasons has had us needing to adapt to our circumstances and create something we can be proud of. My vision for Boiling was to represent the burnout that can happen when you make your passion your job and to give a relatively fun and light hearted mood to an otherwise dark and anxious year.
