Blue Blue Sky
It’s the summer holidays and 11-year old Maria has stopped talking. Instead of going to football practice she secretly spends time in her grandmother’s empty apartment, thinking about life and death.
The quirky short film has won the German Cameraprize and has been screened and awarded at over 50 international festivals.

Bigna Tomschin is an editor and director from Zurich, Switzerland. She studied film at the Zurich University of the Arts. She has worked as editor on feature films and documentaries for Cinema and TV (ARTE, SRF). Never having stopped making movies herself, she founded her own production company Lo-Fi Films in 2014. Her shortfilm BLUE BLUE SKY won the German Cameraprize and was awarded at many international film festivals.
The film shows a world that shouldn’t exist: the world of the dead. The perspective of a child offers an equally melancholic and playful approach to the issue of impermanence. It’s a intimate portrait of a girl who figures out life at her own pace.
