Bidit Roy, native from Jodhpur, is a self-taught documentary filmmaker, 2D animator & graphic designer based out of Pune. Born in the sunshine state of Rajasthan, he spent two years working as a software developer before entering the film industry professionally.
He produced and directed his first documentary ‘Madhur Bhav’ in 2015 while he was working full-time in a corporate. The positive reception encouraged him to explore the non-fiction genre even more. After leaving software industry he worked in a couple of small media agencies for over a year and later freelanced as a filmmaker, animator and graphic designer. In 2018, he founded his own media company Bluebird Moving Stories.
His next documentary ‘Bamboo Lawada’ got officially selected for 6 national and international level film festivals including the prestigious 'Prakriti Documentary Film Festival' organized by UGC, India. Since then he has developed a greater interest towards non-fiction stories and loves to travel in its pursuit.
His third documentary 'The Bicycle Maker' got selected in 9 international film festivals. In one of the world renowned bike themed festival 'Filmed by Bike Int'l festival' his' was the only entry from India among the 79 other best bike films from across world.
His recent film 'The Bee Rescuer' has won 10 awards at international film festivals and 46 other Official selections. In one festival - Impact Forum 2019, the film won 'Best Short Film' jury award which was held at New York in official collaboration with the United Nations.
Bidit follows a Vegan lifestyle, loves to trek, bike and be surrounded by dogs. He is fueled by tea, coffee and alternative rock music.
